I like traveling! In fact I like traveling
ALOT.
In the last few years I've got used to being able to take holidays again and after a couple of years Diving around Turkey and Malta (More about that later) I decided to try something more exotic and ended up in Havana. The one thing I will say in advance is forget anything anyone's ever told you about the island, and above all else don't catch the Air Jamaica flight that has the 3 hr layover in Kingston!
Well with a lot of creative writing from Julia and a little from me here's the 2002 Cuba report.
Here's some of the photo's from the Feb 2003 Snowboarding trip
I'm hoping to Cross Russia, Mongolia and China on the Trans-Siberian Express at some point although my Travel Insurance company who also happen to be my employer wouldn't cover me for that due to the SARS outbreak.
Ah well there's always next year!
Malta Photo's from 2003can be found here.
Also Steve Jones's trip Report can be found here. Don't read this if you're expecting the truth.
At some point I'll get a proper Diving page set up but at the moment this covers the basics.
I dive in both the UK and abroad having been hooked whilst on a holiday to Corfu in 1992. I trained with the Watford BSAC (British Sub Aqua Club) and did a total of about 35 dives in the UK. Shortly after my job changed and I wasn't in a position to dive or take a proper holiday for several years. I got back into it via a change of career and a cheap live aboard holiday to Turkey.
God knows what Murat and Barbara the Instructor and Dive master thought. Looking back on that holiday now I was and absolute disaster.
I then went with my Girlfriend at the time to Malta and got a couple of dives in there. I was hooked again.
Several more trips to Malta with John Eason my long suffering buddy and chief whinger ended with re-qualifying under the PADI system as a Rescue diver. (Possibly the hardest course I've ever done)
UKRS is the USENET newsgroup for divers in the UK. I came across them by accident in late 1999 and looking at their trip schedule I got chance to dive with them in September 2000 although not quite as many dives as I was planning. This led to me Organizing the 2001 Malta Trip
The UKRS Website including trip reports
I've decided I'll have a go at organising this years Ice Breakers Trip.
The details can be found at ICE BREAKERS 2005
